Live Recording at Takoma Station
Takoma Station, 6914 4th St NW, Washington, DC 20012

Nephew sent out emails about tonight's performance, confirming that it was going to be recorded. I brought a camera to record it. Still, I asked Donnell to confirm it. I talked with Tim (LJ) a little bit about Friday's show at the DC Armory. He said he couldn't go. I talked a little bit with Doc before the show. Marc Cary was there as a guest performer. This was my first time seeing the lights and smoke in full force. Halima said she was tense from working on memorizing so many lyrics.

Familiar Faces
First Set
1) Miles Davis' Tutu - some really nice keyboard playing by Marc Cary
2) Halima-led Erykah Badu's Didn't Cha Know
3) Halima-led Rodgers & Hart's My Funny Valentine
4) Mike-led I Dreamed You
5) Mike-led John Legend's Ordinary People - I really liked the beat Stomp used
6) Mike-led Stevie Wonder's As
7) Donnell-led "Lincoln Heights" chant
8) Halima-led Amerie's 1 Thing
A guy that Donnell said was YC played the flute during this set.

A woman who is a regular asked me what happened to Adia; I said that she's no longer in the band. A number of regulars were there. 6'9 said hello. Tracy, Angie, and a woman I don't know, Robin (whom I later learned is Tracy's Cousin), was there. I joked with Darrell, who sat with his head almost in Tracy's lap. I said, "Lap dancing is illegal in DC." Darrell responded: "Only if you get caught." Tamara, Sharmba Mitchell and Ray were there as well.

Second Set
1) Instrumental
2) Halima-led Erykah Badu's Cleva
3) Mike-led John Legend's Used to Love U
4) Donnell-led Ludacris' Number One Spot
5) Alternating Donnell-led Trillville's Some Cut / Notorious BIG's Warning / Keith Murray's Call My Name (tease) / Donnell improv - "Wait a minute", "Hey Hah"
6) Donnell-led Miss Keta Will You Dance for Me
7) Donnell-led "Tired yet, ready to quit?"
8) Mike-led Prince's Take Me With You
9) Donnell-led Hold the Note
10) Donnell-led DIP with an added rap
11) Mike-led Lap Dance - stopped then a drum solo, then a percussion solo
A fine recorded performance.
