Tamara's Birthday Celebration
Takoma Station, 6914 4th St NW, Washington, DC 20012

My friend Tamara (Ms. Gem In I) was celebrating her birthday at Takoma Station, which is where I first met her two years ago. I was the first guest to arrive. I saw three poems performed: one about the difference between a woman and a girl, another on precipitation, and by Tamara over a track, a poem spoken and sung about domestic violence. Tomcat was the only other guest I knew, we talked for a bit. Next Alorious (Tamara and 2 other women: Aluv and Ms. V) sang over a track. I had to leave after that as it was a week night.

This picture was taken after I had left. The two women crouched in front were left to right, the two poets who performed before Tamara.

My friend Nena also had a birthday celebration that night; you can see what I missed there by clicking here.
