Thursday at Zanzibar

Kimberly, Darrell, "original" Nikki, Ebony, Darrell F., Ray, and Cookie were there.

I sat down at a table with Ebony P., Natalie, Sonya, and Allison. Halima kidded me about writing something in my notes to put in my blog, but she didn't do it.

Tim (LJ) was there.

Familiar Faces
First Set
James sang backup.
1) Grover Washington Jr.'s Lock It in the Pocket
Pinky was there.
2) Halima-led Jill Scott's Golden - Donnell and DP played their horns on the floor.
Nicole (cover taker at Safari) was there.
Donnell introduced (Sean) Kal'el as subbing for Mike Muse for a couple of weeks. Donnell said, "Ladies, treat him right."
3) Sean-led Dave Hollister's One Woman Man - nice crank
4) Donnell & Halima-led (Sade's) Cherish the Day
5) Halima-led Sade's Pearls

Simone, Yolanda, Sanisse, and June were there.

Packy said I should interview the equipment guys. I have already interviewed Packy. He introduced Vaughn: "This is Drunk".

I danced with a girl during the break.

Second Set
1) Halima-led Alicia Keys' Unbreakable - Halima's vocals were different
Big Don Pimp was there.
2) Alternating Toto's Georgy Porgy - instrumental intro / Sean-led Bobby Valentino's Slow Down / Donnell-led "___ Is in the house"
3) Donnell-led "Hey ay, Ho oh" - the crowd responded
4) Donnell-led "Do it for the ladies/fellas, Oh my God!"
5) Halima-led Faith Evans' Mesmerized - Funky Stuff guitar riffs
6) Sean-led Gerald Levert's Funny
7) Halima-led Prince's Take Me With You - girls sang it
Shadonna was there.

Donnell did a shout out to Sugar Bear in the audience.

I danced with three girls during the set including Krystal, a bartender at Safari on Fridays.

I talked with Africa and Annette. They said they hadn't seen me in a while, they said at the Classics or Legend. I told them I was at Legend last month. I talked with them about my project.
