Familiar Faces
I walked in behind Charlie and Stomp. There was an event going on the main room, the woman asked us if we were in the band before letting us go through.
Doc, DP, and Donnell were in the rehearsal room. Donnell joked to Charlie, "Are you lost?" Charlie responded, "I'll pull out your eyes and piss in your…"
Over time, Halima, Mike, Duane Face, Dwayne, Jacques, Godfather, and Lorenzo arrived.
Doc talked about Duane Face's thread on TMOTT about the Korg Oasis. Doc asked what he would do with all of those functions. He asked him if he was going to buy it. Duane said no since it costs $8K.
They went over Stevie Wonder's As.
Halima pointed to the fan for Doc to turn it on. I told him "Turn on the fan." He said, "I didn't know what she was pointing at." I said, "What did you think she saw a spaceship?" (Doc sat in front of the window). He said, "I hope not."
They went over more on Tony Terry's Freaky Little Game.
Dwayne said MVP was a major success.
They talked about the white collar vs. the union.
Doc talked about an upcoming Petworth reunion with virtually all of the original members.
Donnell talked about approaching all shows the same regardless of the size of the audience. They discussed the lack of audience in the first set of the Virgo Bash 2005. Someone said it must have lost money, but Jacques said that wasn't true; they had five hundred people there. They talked about pacing yourself for double gigging.
Donnell said, "Sometimes we don't get to where we want to be". He said that Ludacris' Number one Spot is sometimes too fast.
They spent a while going over Whitney Houston's You Give Good Love, which features a different arrangement from the original.
Duane Face played something with bird sounds. When people looked at him, someone joked that he was a "Victim of the system."
